Seven years old in second grade at the time we met, Ousmane lives in a family with eight children, from which all of them attend school. That’s why the family has to make many sacrifices when it comes to paying all the school fees. HIs father is illiterate and has been unemployed for years. The family lives on the money earnt by the mother, who is a teacher.  Their children’s school fee is subtracted from her salary before she gets paid. He shows us his beautifully written booklet which he takes out of his backpack. He is a very hardworking student, much to his parents pleasure. When he grows up, he wants to be a policeman.
